The embroidered light. Stitches is a family of two lamps designed by Egbert-Jan Lam of Netherlands-based Burojet Design Studio: Stitches Bamako and Stitches Tombuctú each have a distinctive embroidery-like pattern. To make these lamps, veneer strips are crafted in a traditional sewing-style fashion. In the same way that a garment is traditionally finished with a hem, the Stitches lamp has a visible hemstitch that is accentuated when lit. Tombuctú is the Spanish name for Timbuktu. Stitches Tombuctú’s singular shape is an allusion to the adobe mosques of Mali and the country’s long history as a producer of embroidery. Stitches Tombuctú is available in the following wood veneers: Ivory White, Yellow, Grey, Pale Rose, and Sea Blue.

LZF is a story of people, wood and light and the result of a peculiar encounter between two strangers. When they met, they both loved their hands and what they were capable of doing with them. Both shared a passion for the arts, for ideas, and experimenting. They coincided in their way of living and their very distinct view of the world. With an absolute belief that everything you feel can be materialised, they began to experiment. Till one night, playing with some wood veneers, they managed to envelop light. LZF was born.
Egbert-Jan Lam set up buroJET in 2001. Today, both he and buroJET are based in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Egbert-Jan has participated in several international design exhibitions with Amsterdam-based Droog design and the Design Academy Eindhoven. Moreover, his work has been exhibited in Milan, New York, Hong Kong and London. BuroJET designs and develops own-label concepts and products, as well as those for national and international contractors and manufacturers. Egbert-Jan believes design is the relationship between humans and objects and while he is extremely passionate and serious about his work, he never forgets that humour is an important part of life.
